The literal, actual soul of a man named Nero suddenly appears proclaiming his freedom and declaring Rimua the proud owner of a shiny, new Voidsoul Sword.

But little does Rimua know that freeing Nero has done more than just make her the unwilling partner of the grimiest man in all of history. It has also embroiled her in all sorts of great and terrible events to come... events which threaten to upend the world as she knows it.
