Before you install

Match the version
The version on the patch page has to match your game build. A mismatch crashes the game on startup, or turns the text to garbage.

Find the game root folder
The folder holding the main executable (.exe). On Steam: right-click the game in your library → Manage → Browse local files.

Back up the originals
Copy the files about to be overwritten. If the patch goes wrong you restore them instead of redownloading the whole game.
Install steps

Extract
Open the patch archive with 7-Zip or WinRAR. If the filenames come out garbled, set the encoding to Japanese (Shift-JIS) and extract again.
- 02
Overwrite the root folder
Copy the extracted files into the game root and choose Overwrite. If the patch ships an installer (.exe), run it and point the path at the root.
- 03
Launch and check
Start the game to confirm. Any language option lives in the game settings or the launcher.

FAQ
- The game won't start after patching
- Confirm the versions match, then confirm the files landed in the game root rather than a subfolder. If both are right, restore your backup and download the patch again — an interrupted download looks normal but extracts with files missing.
- The text turned into garbage
- The extraction encoding was wrong. Re-extract with 7-Zip set to Shift-JIS, or launch the game through Locale Emulator under a Japanese locale.
- My antivirus flags the patch
- Patches rewrite the game executable, which looks like malware behaviour, so false positives are common. If you trust the source, add the folder to your exclusions before extracting. Never disable protection for a file whose origin you don't know.
- An update undid the patch
- The update restored the official versions of the files the patch overwrote. Check the patch page for a build matching the new version; if there isn't one, wait for the author or roll the game back.
- I can't find a patch for a game
- Search the site for both the original Japanese title and the English one — the same game often carries several names. If neither turns anything up, nobody has made one yet.
